NIC Padlock is a comprehensive utility that facilitates a user-friendly workspace for disabling network adapters of remote machines in the local network. It contains approachable options.

The installation procedure is speedy and requires minimal user assistance. As far as the interface goes, NIC Padlock adopts an intuitive window with a neatly structured layout, where you can started by obtaining a list of remote computers to control.

This can be done either by importing the host names or IP addresses from a comma-delimited CSV or TXT file, or by performing a network scan within a specified range.

Either way, the main application window reveals the detected IP addresses and computer names, giving you the possibility to pick one or more entries from the list and organize them into different groups.

The purpose of these categories is to let you apply a particular set of options and actions to all containing hosts at the same time. Ideally, this works best when dealing with numerous machines within a large organization in the local network.

It's possible to modify NIC options for any selected hosts by enabling and disabling all remote network adapters. Moreover, you can define a time limit (in minutes or hours) before automatically re-enabling the adapters. Meanwhile, changes made to the IP addresses can be monitored and updated by the app automatically. You can also modify login credentials and display a customizable text message for the remote user, which should include support contact information.

The software utility is capable of retrieving details from any local machine to find out its belonging group, host name, and status. This information can be exported to CVS format for later examination and importing.

These actions may be defined for hosts individually too. You can send the ping command to find out the connectivity strength between the workstations, deploy NIC Padlock remotely with one click, as well as find out details about remote autostart applications, including the location and PC user name.

NIC Padlock can be restricted with a password, in order to prevent other PC users from tinkering with its settings. You can also resort to a quick search function to locate hosts by name.

There were no stability issues in our tests, as the program didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. It had minimal impact on computer performance, using low CPU and RAM. Too bad that the trial edition doesn't let you explore all available features. On top of that, it hasn't been recently updated.

Otherwise, NIC Padlock proves to be an advanced, yet intuitive networking tool to help you remotely disable the network adapters of local hosts.
