OBS is an awesome open-source tool that helps you grab video or audio from your desktop and stream it live to different platforms. Right now, it's in the alpha stage, but you can expand what it does with community-made plug-ins.
The OBS user interface is super simple! You get a single window to organize your scenes, manage audio and video sources, and preview what you'll capture. Plus, you can switch between different sources for each scene. This means you can easily jump between windows or parts of your screen while you're live streaming!
With OBS, you can capture your whole desktop or just specific windows. The app automatically finds all open windows—even those without names! You just pick which one you want to capture from a dropdown menu.
You can jazz up your stream by integrating images, capturing audio input or output, grabbing real-time gameplay, and adding text labels. If you're looking for even more features, there are additional plug-ins on the developer's site that let you capture browser content or switch video sources easily.
A cool thing about OBS is that it allows you to record videos too! It saves them as FLV files on your computer while also letting you go live. It supports popular streaming services like YouTube, Twitch, highbox.tv, DailyMotion, and many more!
In short, OBS gives you the power to record tutorials and stream them live at the same time. It's perfect for broadcasting gaming sessions while managing both input and output audio content—and a whole lot more!
