PowerPoint is a very commonly used and popular presentation tool, yet the basic application can be limited in some areas, so there are several add-on programs that can boost its functionality. OfficeOne Code Presenter is a tool that allows users to add code snippets into a presentation with a code writing window.

Some additions to PowerPoint can be difficult to find, they become lost in the standard buttons and features, making it hard for users to locate and effectively use the new feature. OfficeOne Code Presenter does not have this problem, in the Insert area of the PowerPoint ribbon clearly displays the additional buttons, as well as in the Insert menu.

OfficeOne Code Presenter displays two additional buttons: Insert Code Snippet and Edit Code Snippet. They fit easily into the layout without stretching or disrupting the layout in any way, as well as both being easy to use and easy to navigate.

Given that OfficeOne Code Presenter is essentially a way to add potentially advanced code into an already advanced application, it is surprisingly basic to use. To insert a code snippet, users press the button and a new window is opened with an area to write in. The option to load a code file is also available, so prewritten code can be used repeatedly and easily.

Once included, the additional snippet appears in its own text box within the presentation and is ready to be used. However, OfficeOne Code Presenter could use some additional features, it doesn't inform users if there are any restrictions on the type of code used, as well as lacking a code checker or preview window. Being able to see how the code snippet will appear would be a very useful addition and save potential edits; though, unlike some PowerPoint add-ons, the program is free.

OfficeOne Code Presenter offers users a simple upgrade to the presentation ability of PowerPoint, anyone familiar with coding will be able to make use of it immediately. While there are no drawbacks, that is not the same as a perfect application. OfficeOne Code Presenter could do more, or just do what it does better, yet there is no downside to adding it to your PowerPoint.
