Although Microsoft tries to justify the changes, the truth is that the context menu in Windows 11 is a step back from previous versions. Sure, the common commands are now at the top and grouped together, but are available as icons. If you didn’t grow accustomed to the icons and want to make simple operations like copy and paste in the classic way, you need to do an extra click.

Old context menu is not an application per se, but rather a registry file aimed to bring back the classic context menu on the newest version of Windows.

Launch and click yes to get the old context menu

As previously mentioned, this isn’t an actual application, but rather a registry file that was created to help you simplify the switch to the old context menu. Simply click yes after launching it and you should be able to view the context menu specific to older versions of Windows.

The idea behind the tool is to provide the average user a simple way to bring back the old context menu without them having to go through the Registry Editor. There are numerous tutorials out there on how to do it manually available at a click of a button.

It is important to note that the tool doesn’t offer you a way to revert back the changes, so once you make the switch, that’s it. If you want to go back to the new context menu, then you need to go through the registry and do them manually. Considering the latter aspect, it goes without saying that the tool shouldn’t be used, unless you know what you’re doing.

In the eventuality that you are using the context menu a lot with the latest version of Windows and want to skip the extra click that comes with it, then perhaps you can consider giving the Old context menu in Windows 11 utility a try.
