Even if you work on a large display, chances are there’s not enough space to hold all windows you need. On the other hand, switching can be easily done through default Windows features, and doing so requires little effort. What’s more, the process can be enhanced through third-party alternatives like OneFinger Task Switch.

With little time spent installing the application, you get to check out the set of features before you realize. However, for the setup process, and the application to work, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is on the target PC, even though modern Windows iterations come with it as a default feature.

The application aims to save you some time when switching to other windows which are minimized to the taskbar, or behind the active one. Just as the Windows default method, this is also accomplished through keyboard hotkeys. Related options can be adjusted from the dedicated configurations panel, which is easily brought up by interacting with the tray icon.

By default, the application is configured to run with Windows, so that the task switch operation becomes available as soon as you reach the desktop. You can have the task switcher icon shown in the taskbar, just in case another window pops up and steals focus. You can opt for small thumbnails and font inside the switch panel.

Only one button needs to be pressed in order to activate the task switch panel. Unfortunately, there’s no option to create a combination, and there’s not a lot of variety in key choice as well. There’s a drop down menu which only allows you to choose from F1 to F12 keys, so it’s best to make sure no other Windows, or third-party function is triggered via the selected key.

Bottom line is that OneFinger Task Switcher doesn’t differ a lot from its Windows counterpart. On the one hand, the task selection box remains on top even if you don’t hold down the trigger button, and even though hotkey configuration is rather limited, its simplicity, and practicality make it worth a try overall.
