If you haven’t decided on a password manager yet, it’s good to know that you have more than a few worthwhile options to consider. The majority of mainstream offerings happen to be open-source, accessible from anywhere, and provide you with all you need to start protecting your logins and other sensitive information.
OneKeePass is much the same, except in one key area: it is an offline-only password manager. While you may not be able to access it from the web, you can still take your database’s encrypted file with you and unlock it when needed to access your data.
Those looking to switch from KeePass can do so without having to start over: just bring your Kdbx database over, and the program should be able to recognize it without a problem.
The decidedly offline-only nature of the software may put some users off, but for those looking for something that doesn’t rely on the cloud, this should be a worthwhile solution. Even with this limitation in mind, users can still take their database file on a portable drive or store it on the cloud, and use their master password to unlock it whenever they need.
As for operating the program, neither casual nor experienced users should have any problems. Even if you haven’t used a password manager before, acclimating to this one should feel fairly natural as adding your data is essentially just filling some fields.
When creating an entry, the user can opt to add however many custom fields or sections they want. These can be used to provide additional information about the entry.
One-time password integration is also offered, such that you’ll be able to add your 2FA keys to the app and use TOTPs without having to access a separate app.
As usual, you also get access to a password generator, which is quite standard. Nevertheless, it’s always good to have one around, so you can get some good use out of it.
Those who appreciate off-the-grid solutions will like what OneKeePass has to offer. It’s a simple, modern password manager that can be used to store and safeguard sensitive information in a practical way.
