Every successful business goes through different phases which more or less rely on complex projects. Using a computer regardless of your domain of activity has a lot of benefits, for instance, making it easy to create and track project steps. In this regard, Open Workbench comes with a powerful set of project management tools.

Before you can take advantage of all the application has to offer, it’s a good idea to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your computer. Once launched, the application places you directly in the creation process. Although you can feel a little confused at first, it all becomes clear after taking a quick look over sections.

The application doesn’t really come with any prerequisites, and most data sets need to be manually created. Although it can take quite some time to perform this operation, it makes things a lot easier later on to have resources and dependencies already configured. Management areas are then easily accessed from a side panel, with structured tabs for planning, execution, controlling, and filters.

Projects can be structured in Gantt charts, for which details are filled in a new window, which includes fields for general info, budget, schedule, resources, and more. Some of these fields can also be found in the main panel and edited on the spot. External resources can be used as well.

Apart from the Gantt chart, project management steps include CPM Network, phase level Gantt, WBS Definition, dependency definition, resource assignment, schedules, dependency status, status updates, unused availability, and more. There’s the possibility to set up filters for key tasks, which can be easily managed later on.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Open Workbench is a powerful project management application overall. On the other hand, it can feel a little rough around the edges, and can take some time to have all required resource values added to be able to properly create and track projects.
