Description

OpenTrack

OpenTrack is a cool open-source app that tracks your head movements. It works great with games, flight simulators, and other similar software. The best part? It supports a bunch of input and output devices, plus it uses various protocols to send and receive data. So you can easily exchange data with most games that support head tracking!

Two Versions to Choose From

This app comes in two flavors: an installer edition and a portable version. The portable one is super handy because it doesn't need any setup! You just double-click the executable file, and boom—you're ready to go! Plus, it leaves no traces behind on your system, which is definitely a bonus for some users.

User-Friendly Interface

The main interface of OpenTrack packs all the options and features into one window. You can see the raw tracker data next to the game data, making it super easy to manage everything at once. You can pick your input and output right from drop-down lists, plus there are filters available too!

Fun Features while You Track

When you run the application, you'll see a preview area displaying the camera output—and get this—a funny little octopus moves along with your head movements! It's pretty entertaining while you're getting set up.

Create Your Own Configurations

You can start by creating a new configuration profile if you want something different from the default one. From there, just choose your input and output settings from their lists.

Multiple Tracking Methods

OpenTrack offers several tracking methods in its Input list. Want to use your phone as a tracker? Just select “FreePIE UDP receiver.” Other choices include PointTracker, Razer Hydra, Fusion, Easy Tracker—seriously, there's plenty more! It also supports UDP over network and joystick input. Plus, there's even a test tracker available!

Diverse Output Options

The output side has tons of options too! OpenTrack can work with various games like FlightGear or freetrack. You can even use joystick or mouse emulation or send data via UDP over the network. The output setting will determine how movement data gets sent to your chosen game.

Automatic Game Detection

One of the neat features of OpenTrack is its automatic game detection ability! It makes communication with games and simulators easy because it supports multiple protocols and filters. While setting things up isn't too tricky, it's good to have some familiarity with input trackers so you can make the most out of this awesome tool.
