Staying on top of computer maintenance is certainly not for everyone. Most casual users don’t necessarily bother with it, but luckily Windows has gotten better over the years at handling those matters by itself.
Nevertheless, helper tools to streamline the process for all can be quite the helping hand. OPSWAT Security Score assesses your machine across different “subjects”: security, patch and OS update management and vulnerable applications are just a few of the areas which the tool will analyze to suggest if any improvements can be made.
Finding where exactly your machine is lacking can be difficult, but through a set of assessments and scoring that is easy to interpret, users can be more in tune with their system’s status.
Security can be a somewhat nebulous concept to a more casual user, and Security Score is an effort to make it more approachable. It’s to be noted that the meaning of the word doesn’t exclusively pertain to malware prevention, but more holistically, as the tool also considers failsafes such as backups and encryption, as well as your machine’s track record with vulnerabilities, OS updates, and so on.
Clicking a section will take you directly to it, where you’ll find any available suggestions. There’s no need to despair if your system is an underperformer, as most of the proposed improvements can be applied directly through the program’s interface.
Users can work to improve the assessment of their system by analyzing the program’s suggestions. Patch Management keeps track of any updates you’ve missed: most are automatic, but some may be manual-only, so your mileage may vary. OS Updates can also be downloaded and installed with one click.
Any detected vulnerable applications can be removed or monitored further. To help with that, AppRemover is a built-in utility that assists users in the software deletion process.
OPSWAT Security Score can be a worthwhile utility to scan for any system vulnerabilities. It’s very approachable as a software, making it accessible to a wider audience, but I wouldn’t necessarily say its findings provide anything a more experienced user wouldn’t already be aware of.
