It can become pretty frustrating and difficult to come up with a new password for every service you choose to subscribe to. Most of them also force you to meet specific demands and character requirements. It is up to applications like Password Anywhere to reduce the effort of creating a new password to pressing a few mouse buttons.

On the bright side of things, the application doesn’t have to be installed in order to function, so you can take it for a spin as soon as download is done. However, this is only possible if Java Runtime Environment is already on your computer, because it’s a mandatory requirement for functionality. On the other hand, the target PC’s health status is not affected in the process.

The visual design is straightforward, posing no accommodation problems whatsoever. All requirement fields are in plain sight, and the password is generated as you type. Not all fields are mandatory, and you can stop input the moment you stumble upon a proper password.

Although there’s no direct relation, one of the main requirement fields is the target website, as well as username and existing password. The character set needs to be selected from a list of presets, with no possibility to create more. Sadly, you can only use one character set, which has a considerable impact on practicality.

Apart from character sets, the generator can be set to use one or more hash algorithms with options like variations of MD and SHA, as well as the cipher algorithm with which to process input. As mentioned, the password is generated on the spot, with a dedicated field to specify length, and possibility to instantly send to clipboard.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Password Anywhere is a little underprepared for the depth of functions it wants to deliver. Sure enough it provides different hash and cipher algorithms to combine, but only one character set can be used per process.
