Description

Ping-xPert

Ping-xPert is a handy tool that helps you check if an online location is up and running. You could always just try to visit the site in your web browser, but Ping-xPert does this in a smarter way. It sends out little packets of data called pings to see if they come back successfully. This means you can check one or multiple targets at once!

Visual Design and Usability

Now, I’ll be honest—the design of Ping-xPert feels a bit old-fashioned and cluttered. The elements are packed together, which can make it look messy. Plus, you can't resize them or adjust them when you make the main window bigger. But on the bright side, major sections are divided by tabs, so it’s not too overwhelming.

Connection Requirements

To get started with Ping-xPert, you'll need at least a LAN connection based on what you're trying to do. You can perform a single ping on a specific target, choose several targets at once, or even scan an entire range of IP addresses! This app also works with domain names and regular URLs to show you their matching IPs.

Customizing Data Packets

You can easily tweak the data packet settings in Ping-xPert. Just adjust a few fields for ping count, interval in milliseconds, timeout settings, fragment size, buffer size, and how long until the target is considered dead. It’s pretty straightforward no matter what type of operation you're running.

Real-Time Data Display

The best part? Data comes back fast and gets displayed in real-time in an organized table showing all the important info you need. While there isn’t an option to save logs of events directly within the app, you can copy everything to your clipboard or print it out right away! Plus, if you're using group ping options, there's even a feature that lets you save groups for later use.

Final Thoughts on Ping-xPert

Even though its design might seem outdated and cluttered at first glance, Ping-xPert does deliver some great features for sending custom data packets to check if certain LAN or online targets are available. Setting everything up takes hardly any time at all—especially with real-time data laid out nicely for easy printing!
