Poker HD is a casual poker simulation game for the Mac OS X platform that enables you to play Texas Hold’em against one or more AI players. Poker HD comes as a free demo version in which you can play against only one opponent (besides other limitations), and as a paid version from the Mac App Store.
Poker HD’s user interface consists of buttons to fold, call, raise, check or bet, as well as the standard poker table where you can view the folded cards, total pot, your opponents’ balance and check status, and more.
The gameplay should be familiar to you if you’ve played Texas Hold’em before. Moreover, you can use three kinds of chips: blue (1/2 pot), purple (pot) and green (all in). You can also manually adjust the bet money using a slider under the chips.
The Poker HD game also comes with just a few internal settings. You are empowered to start with any sum of money in your stack (in dollars) and set the other players’ stacks as well. You can also adjust the small and big binds from the settings.
The preferences panel offers the possibility to change the gameplay to two or four colors. The sounds can be toggled on / off and the difficulty can be set to easy or hard. If you don’t like the current game, you can start a new one from the Settings panel, too.
Poker HD can be played in a standard 1024 x 790 pixel window that can fit on any display, be it on a small MacBook or large iMac. Moreover, the game features average graphics and visual effects, as well as simple audio effects for most actions in the game.
Poker HD is not a revolutionary poker simulation game, but merely one of the many Texas Hold’em game variants that you can play online or on any other platform.
