Polaritron is an entertaining, fast-paced game that has been inspired by various retro styled titles, such as Bit.Trip Runner, Supper Hexagon, and Ikaruga.

The gameplay revolves around one or more cores that need to be protected from incoming bullets. To shield the cores, you need to change their polarity by using your mouse or your keyboard.

Before you get to start playing, Polaritron makes you choose the game mode: you start with polar and you work your way up to more difficult levels. At the same time, you can choose one of the available interface themes or the sound effects style.

Even though you can deactivate the music in Polaritron, the soundtrack is procedurally generated and contributes a lot to the overall experience. By default, Polaritron employs a POP sound, but you can unlock other styles, such as Tech and so on.

To change the core’s polarity within the Polaritron game, you can use your mouse, the space bar, or the Z key. If you are playing in multipolar modes, you can also use the ASD, ZXC, or the arrow keys combinations.

Even though the game’s controls are quite straightforward, since the bullets are coming towards the cores quite fast, making the necessary changes in time can prove to be quite tricky. In the end, it all depends on your own reflexes and ability to focus.

To conclude, although the Polaritron setup and gameplay are not very complex, the game manages to keep you entertained, and it's not as frustrating as other titles, such as Flappy Bird.

An important part of the overall look and feel is represented by the game’s procedurally generated soundtrack that is in sync with your gameplay.
