Portable Finance Man

Designed as the portable edition of Finance Man, this is a free software application that facilitates a user-friendly working environment for helping you create and manage your personal finances.

It allows you to set up multiple accounts, manage vehicle finances and assets, administer income and expenses, compile reports and graphs, as well as configure plenty of settings.

Since there is no installation involved, you can save the program files in any part of the disk and just click the executable to launch Finance Man. There's also the possibility to copy it to a USB flash drive to directly run it on any computer with minimum effort. It doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

Made from a large window with a neatly organized structure, the interface invites you to create a new database with the Finance Man format (.fdb).

New accounts can be put together by specifying a name, type (e.g. cheque, transmission, savings, post office), bank, number, interest rate, branch, amount and website. Properties can be edited anytime. Similarly it is possible to build new entries with financial details regarding vehicles, personal and home activities.

The software utility lets you manage properties for vehicles, transport, equipment, debtors, savings, bonds, fixed deposits, shares, derivatives, foreign exchange, investments, business, income, expenses, and invoicing.

As far as statistics are concerned, Finance Man can be asked to automatically generate reports and charts for assets and liabilities, along with income and expenses. Another important aspect worth mentioning is that data can be exported to external file for closer inspection and safekeeping.

Moreover, the tool lets you create custom account goals, types and processes, edit currency entries and fund categories, configure investment options, as well as change manufacturer details and transport types.

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the app didn't hang, crash or display error messages. Its impact on the overall performance of the machine was minimal, as it needed low CPU and RAM to work properly.

Finance Man comes loaded with intuitive and approachable options for helping you manage various aspects about your finances, so you can definitely give it a shot, especially since it's free. Too bad it hasn't been updated for a long time.
