Portable Kudaz

Programming languages are the main tools with which to develop applications and games. Code can easily be written in any basic text editor, but you need special builders for a functional result. What Portable Kudaz tries to do is bundle up all you need to easily write down code in a powerful and highly-intuitive environment.

Since this is the portable version of Kudaz, you don't have to go through an installation process to take advantage of its features. This is a great advantage considering you mostly work with text files, because the application does not take up much disk space, nor do your projects, making them easy to store on a USB Flash drive.

The visual design is pretty simple, but you can enhance it with a side panel that contains a file explorer, auto complete feature, sniptext and project browser. These greatly come in handy, especially because an abundance of languages are supported, all of them with syntax highlighter so it becomes easy to work on projects written down in different languages.

You can start a new project either by bringing up a blank sheet, or a preset fitted with support for C/C++, Object Pascal, HTML, Cascading Style Sheet and XML. If none of them suit your style or matches your knowledge level, you can use a blank page because it can be customized to aid with syntax highlighters for up to fifty two different types.

As if those weren't enough, the application's level of customization enables you to invest some effort and time into adding custom highlighters, either by importing specific files or writing down all conditions. Customization stretches beyond functionality, with options to also make visual elements suit your style.

The text field is fitted with line numbering to easily identify code, but you can also use a few types of search tools. These can be used to quickly find specific bits of text, fetch and replace multiple entries, or even look up code withing specific files and based on your criteria. You can place bookmarks or jump directly to any line.

When you're done, the application let's you preview work in your default web browser. Saving is done under the same type of files you can load, as well as RTF, TXT, and several forms of raw text. You can also take the time to take one last look at your project to trim the code by eliminating unnecessary spaces, managing delimitation methods and more.

All things considered, we can safely state that Portable Kudaz is a fully-featured text editor that any programmer, experienced or not should try out at least once. File support is impressive but what really makes the crowd go wild is the implementation of a stunning amount of syntax highlighters. Along with other more or less useful tools and customization options, you're sure to properly write down code for your projects.
