Portable Magical Jellybean Dictionary is a simple-to-use software application that gets connected to the dict.org website to provide you with a dictionary client application. It lets you enter keywords to find out word definitions, as well as to filter dictionaries and strategies.

As the name of the program says, this is a portable package, so you can drop the files anywhere on the disk or on a removable storage unit, and directly launch the executable file on any computer. More importantly, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

As previously mentioned, Magical Jellybean Dictionary connect to dict.org to scrutinize its contents. By default, it looks into all databases and strategies, while giving you the possibility to filter them.

For instance, you can translate words into other languages or look into a Bible dictionary, as well as ask the tool to match headwords exactly, prefixes or suffixes, or the first or last word within headwords.

Although the app doesn't implement options for copying data to the Clipboard, printing it or exporting it to file, the first action can be done by making a text selection and using the global Copy hotkey or by opening the right-click menu.

As expected, the utility had a low impact on the PC's performance in our tests. It carried out database scan jobs swiftly and didn't hang, crash or display error messages. The interface could use some upgrades, though.

We must also take into consideration the fact that Magical Jellybean Dictionary hasn't been updated for a significant amount of time. Otherwise, it gets the job done quickly and supports many types of dictionary databases and keyword lookup strategies.
