Portable MyLanViewer

Monitoring your internet traffic is something that we all should pay attention to from time to time: some routers have antiquated security algorithms, which makes it easier for people to get into your network. You can never know whether you're the only user on your network unless you expressly check for it, and not many people do that.

Routers generally come equipped with built-in tools to help users monitor their address, but that involves opening the browser, going to the router's address, then navigating to the tab where that function is supposed to be — this varies greatly between routers. MyLanViewer gives you that functionality in a simple, compact package.

As this is a portable tool, no installation is required. Unpack the archive it comes in, and it's all ready to go. You'll initially notice the boxy, old-school-looking interface design, which loosely reminded us of the Windows XP days.

The Subnet/Wi-Fi Monitoring menu will be your first introduction with the app: therein, users will be able to see the known and unknown devices on their network. Information about the host name, IP and MAC addresses, as well as the first and last time found is readily accessible.

A neat feature of the program lies in the Messenger menu. In short, users can add other people and converse with them right in the app. To add someone, you'll need their IP address, as well as their host name.

Another function worthy of mentioning is in the Scanner menu, under the Resources tab. Through this, users can add their servers and monitor their files directly from the interface.

Everything the program finds can be exported: save everything as a .dat, .html, .txt, or .csv file, or just the IP and MAC addresses in .txt.
