Portable Rocket Propulsion Analysis Lite is a comprehensive rocket-propelled engines testing suite that allows users to control many aspects of the simulations. The program calculates detailed thermodynamic characteristics which can then be exported.

There are multiple analysis parameters which users can play around with. The pressure of the burning chamber, the nozzle characteristics and the propellant mixture are all elements which can be adjusted to fit the needs of users.

Upon inserting all this information, the software automatically computes the resulting thermodynamic characteristics. Portable Rocket Propulsion Analysis Lite then evaluates the performance of the theoretical engine.

This is a great function for advanced engine designs. However, there are cases when inserting a large amount of data is simply not needed. Slightly adjusting just one parameter is one such case.

Fortunately, the program comes with two analysis modules: an extended simulation and an express and quicker, but lighter, version. This “Express analysis” is great for testing the theoretical limits of the engine.

This module contains considerably more data fields, like the shape and efficiency of the nozzle. Other customizable parameters include the ambient conditions (the pressure range), the throttle settings and the nozzle inlet or exit conditions.

All the data introduced into the program can be saved as a local CFG file. This allows users to save and disseminate their work.

The interface is surprisingly user-friendly. This is achieved by hiding the complex core algorithms behind well-organized menus. Indeed, regardless of the analysis conducted, the number of menus is kept to an absolute minimum.

In the end, Portable Rocket Propulsion Analysis Lite is a very good resource for Physics specialists dealing with rocket-propelled engines. The range of customization is really great and the simulations are accurate.
