Portable SDB Explorer

This is the portable counterpart of SDB Explorer, a simple-to-use software utility designed to help you connect to and manage Amazon SimpleDB accounts. It comes packed with several handy features, such as the ability to import data from CSV files and MySQL databases.

As there is no setup pack involved, you can save the program files to a custom location on the hard disk and just click the executable to launch SDB Explorer. Another possibility is to copy it to a USB flash drive in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort, as long as Java is installed.

An important aspect worth taking into consideration is that the app does not modify Windows registry settings, so it doesn't increase the risk of system stability issues.

The UI is user-friendly. The main app window is large and has all options neatly organized. You can get started by connecting to an Amazon SimpleDB account. It is possible to create a list with multiple database connections that can be easily managed.

You can administer the structured data in SimpleDB domains, run queries, upload multiple Amazon SimpleDB records with Direct Cell Editing, view the domain property and optionally empty your domain and export this data to XML files, sort the records by attributes in ascending or descending order, seamlessly delete two or more selected rows with one click, and more.

As far as app customization is concerned, you can select the region endpoint, data path and number of results to display per page, apply proxy settings, set the number of threads you want to run parallel in queue, as well as pick the queue container size.

There were no kind of stability issues in our tests, since SDB Explorer did not hang, crash or pop up error notifications. It does not put a strain on computer performance, thanks to the fact that it needs a low amount of CPU and memory to work properly.
