How to Install Portable VLC OS X

Getting started is super easy! Just follow these steps:

First, drag the "Portable VLC OS X" folder to your portable device or USB thumb drive. You can even store it on your internal hard disk if you'd like.

Next, click on "Portable VLC" to open the player from your portable device. It might take a moment for VLC to start up, so be patient!

If you happen to have another copy of VLC running, you'll see an alert asking if you'd like to quit it. Go ahead and do that.

Using Your Data with Portable VLC

If you've got bookmarks or preferences saved in your main VLC app, don’t worry! When prompted with the "Copy preferences" window, just hit "Yes". This way, all your settings will transfer over smoothly.

Your preferences and other files are stored inside the bundle located at: Portable VLC.app/Contents/Resources/app/
