Note: This program is not supported anymore, but it can still be downloaded and used with the limitations mentioned on this page.
PrivacyKeyboard is a simple-to-use security application made to protect your computer from spy software and hardware keyloggers which attempt to hijack your system.
It offers support for real-time protection, Clipboard monitoring, anti-screenshotting, and a virtual keyboard.
Installing this tool is a fast and easy job, thanks to the fact that it has only standard options. Although this is not mentioned in the setup, it integrates itself into the Windows autostart sequence.
Once launched, PrivacyKeyboard creates an icon in the system tray area and remains minimized there when not in use, so it doesn't interrupt your regular PC activities. The real-time guard is turned on by default, and you can stop it by bringing up the main panel and clicking a button.
As far as looks are concerned, the utility adopts a clean and intuitive window that keeps the protection policy and options organized into separate panes.
You can check out a list of auto-detected modules and create a whitelist with applications to trust in order to exclude them from the scan scope and let them perform any action regardless of the system's security status.
When it comes to program preferences, you can disable the splash screen at startup, hide the systray icon, turn off notifications about changes recorded in the auto-detected modules list, and deactivate visual and sound effects.
You can remove PrivacyKeyboard's entry from the autostart sequence, prohibit disabling the protection for non-admin users, allow screenshots, apply for password protection, hide certificates, or allow non-admin users to manage the protection policy.
The virtual keyboard can be automatically loaded at startup. You can disable keystroke sounds, modify the default delays before the first keystroke repeat and between keystrokes, and set a new hotkey for its popup window.
The tool didn't put a strain on the PC's performance in our tests since it used low CPU and RAM. No error dialogs popped up, and it didn't freeze or crash. It contains intuitive and advanced settings for protection against keyloggers and other spy utilities. On the other hand, it hasn't been updated for a long time, and it doesn't support 64-bit Windows.
