PSF Tools are a handy set of utilities designed for working with console fonts in the PSF (PC Screen Font) format. If you need to convert fonts, this project is here to help! It can easily change your fonts to and from different formats.



What Can PSF Tools Do?


The PSF Tools aim to do something like what NetPBM does but specifically for simple fixed-width bitmap fonts. It’s straightforward and user-friendly!

  • The current release supports converting these formats to PSF:


    • Raw (DOS-style) font

    • Windows font (FNT, FON)

    • Sinclair Spectrum +3

    • MDA character ROM dump

    • DOS/Linux codepages (CP, CPI)

    • Hercules WriteOn (WOF)

    • Plain text


  • You can also convert from PSF to these formats:


    • Raw font

    • Windows font (FNT, FON)

    • Hercules WriteOn (WOF)

    • DOS codepages (CPI)

    • Sinclair Spectrum +3

    • BDF files

    • C include file

    • XBM image that has all characters

    • A single PBM image for each character

    • Plain text files




    What's New in This Release?


    This latest update comes with some cool improvements:



    • You can now convert BBC Micro soft fonts using VDU23 codes.

    • The PPCGREEK and PPC860 codepages have been corrected!
