PsyScope X was created at Carnegie Mellon by some really smart folks: Jonathan Cohen, Matthew Flatt, Brian MacWhinney, and Jefferson Provost. They first developed it for Mac OS 9 back in the '90s. Pretty cool, right? Thanks to these talented creators, the code is out there for everyone to use under the GNU GPL license.
PsyScope is a handy application that runs on Apple Macintosh computers. It’s mainly used by experimental labs to design and run psychological experiments. Lots of researchers love using it because it makes their work easier!
Fast forward a bit, and PsyScope X has been updated to work on OS X too! This was made possible by the SISSA Language, Cognition and Development Lab along with help from several other labs. Teamwork makes the dream work!
The current version of PsyScope X is super versatile. It works great on both Intel processors and PowerPC machines. One of the best parts? PsyScope X lets you control all sorts of stimuli like movies and sounds. Other commercial programs just can’t match that level of control.
If you're in an experimental lab or just interested in psychological research, PsyScope X could be your new best friend! Its unique features really set it apart from other software out there.
