Description
qcOSC
qcOSC is a handy little plugin for Quartz Composer that lets it pick up Open Sound Control messages through the UDP protocol. If you’re working with sound and need something reliable, this tool is pretty cool!
Why Use qcOSC?
So, you might be wondering why qcOSC even exists. Well, it was made to fix a common issue with the OSC receiver in Quartz Composer. Sometimes, that receiver would just send out a zero instead of the last number it got. That can be super annoying when you’re trying to create something awesome!
How Does It Work?
With qcOSC, when it gets messages, it creates outlets for them. Plus, it lets other devices know about its input port using Zeroconf (which Apple fans know as Bonjour). This means you can connect things easily without any fuss.
Installation Steps
- First off, put the plug-in file (qcOSC.plugin) into one of these folders:
~/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Plug-Ins
/Library/Graphics/Quartz Composer Plug-Ins - Next, drag an instance of qcOSC into your composition.
- Then, open up the "Patch Inspector". Head over to Settings and type in a Port number for the plugin to listen on.
- Finally, send those OSC messages!
