Written in Qt, qfm is a simple file manager with dual panes, which gives you the possibility to browse your disk directories and perform several operations via hotkeys. It doesn't require setup and includes only a few standard options that can be seamlessly figured out by anyone.

As there is no setup pack involved, you can save the program files anywhere on the hard drive and just click the executable to launch qfm. Otherwise, you can keep it stored on a removable storage unit to directly run the tool on any computer with minimum effort and no previous installers. It shouldn't make any changes to your Windows registry.

The user-friendly interface is made from a standard window split into two panes, which you can use to view the contents of two different locations at the same time. Displayed file information includes the name, size and date of last modification for each item.

Using keyboard shortcuts it's possible to display the mount points for the left or right panel, go to the parent directory, edit the current tab's path, refresh contents, copy the paths of selected files, open a selected directory in a new tab, rename or remove files or folders, create new directories, calculate folder sizes, copy or move files and folders to other locations, as well as cancel the currently running operation. There are no other notable options available here.

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the software utility didn't hang, crash or prompt error messages. It left a small footprint on system resources, running on low CPU and RAM.

On the other hand, qfm is a very simplistic file manager with limited options. We must also take into account that it hasn't been updated for a while.
