Description
Quay
Quay is a neat little tool that makes your Dock even better! You’ll find all your Quay items on the right or bottom side of the Dock, just like you’re used to. The cool part? There are no extra apps running on the other side of the Dock, so you won’t see any distracting ‘running’ lights. It uses the system's Dock instead of a secondary palette or window, keeping things simple and tidy.
What is Quay?
Quay is a straightforward Cocoa application. You run it mainly to set up a popup item in your Dock. When it comes to popups, Quay runs an on-demand background tool that hardly uses any CPU time or memory.
No Tricks Here!
You might be wondering if Quay does some kind of magic, but nope! It doesn’t call private system interfaces and definitely doesn’t hack into the Dock in any way. It's all above board here!
Why Use Quay?
You might ask why you'd want to use Quay. Well, it offers extra information and more flexibility! For example, while the Dock can only handle about 500 items in its popups, Quay can manage tens of thousands! You can even have a Quay popup on both sides of the Dock, while Apple only allows them on one side.
Smart Features
The Dock doesn't follow aliases or symbolic links in its menus, but guess what? Quay does! It works great with Smart Folders too and shows app versions along with CPU and memory stats for running applications. If you ever want to go back to how the Dock normally looks, just hold down the Option key before clicking.
