Voice Memos isn’t everyone’s favorite recording tool for a number of reasons: it lacks some basic features, the UI can be a bit too obtrusive, and it doesn’t provide easy access to audio files once a recording is done.
Recordia is a fairly basic app without a GUI, other than for its settings. All features are accessible from the menu bar, and it never gets in your way. It has some interesting features, such as switching between input sources easily and supporting input monitoring and custom file naming schemes.
While there's no built-in method of recording system audio, you can use an audio loopback driver like BlackHole to capture system sound. Output files can be saved to a specific folder automatically, or you can override the setting by holding Option when stopping the recording to save the file to another location. Additionally, files can be copied to the clipboard automatically for easy sharing.
Recordia is superior to Voice Memos in almost every way, except for syncing recordings across devices. It also lacks a trimming tool, but you can easily take care of that through Preview.
