Description

Reeddit

Reeddit is a cool macOS app that gives you a fresh way to enjoy Reddit without needing to open your web browser. While some folks might not think of Reddit as 'the front page of the Internet', many users love spending hours scrolling through their favorite subreddits for the latest posts.

What Can You Do with Reeddit?

Now, here’s the scoop: with Reeddit, you can view posts and comments, but that's about it. Unfortunately, you can't vote on anything, reply to threads, send messages, or check your inbox. Plus, it doesn’t let you log in with your existing Reddit account. That means you'll need to manually create your list of subscriptions from scratch.

Layouts and Customization Options

One neat thing about Reeddit is its flexibility! You can choose from three different layouts: one that shows both the sidebar and posts, another that displays just the posts, or one that includes comments too. Switching between these views is as easy as resizing the app window!

Add Your Favorite Subreddits

You can add any subreddit you want! The app has a handy list for browsing popular options or you can type in names for more niche ones. A feature many users will love is creating custom channels that group several subreddits together. This makes it super easy to keep up with multiple topics at once.

Sorting Posts with Reeddit

When it comes to sorting posts, you've got the usual options like hot, new, controversial, or top. However, there's a catch: you can only see today's posts since changing time frames isn’t available. Also, hot comments are always shown first without any alternative sorting options.

The Comment Viewing Challenge

A bit frustrating? Yes! One thing we found annoying is how comments are displayed. You can't view all replies in a thread at once; you'll have to click on each one individually to see them.

A Great Option for Mac Users

In summary, Reeddit is a neat little app if you're looking for an alternative way to browse Reddit on your Mac. But keep in mind that without logging into your account or being able to interact much with posts and comments, using a web browser might still be easier.
