Exploring Web content can go beyond the usual Internet surfing endeavor, and things can take a more analytical, methodical approach when resorting to more specialized means. For instance, performing queries on websites and analyzing the corresponding response is one alternative way of learning a lot about a particular site or domain, all in a more elegant manner, which is based on principles similar to those used in remote sensing.

REST-Explorer is a specialized tool that was created specifically in order to offer users a way to perform queries and debugging on REST-based web services. The application relies on either HTTP or HTTPS requests and supports a wide range of methods, such as GET, POST, DELETE, TRACE, and more.

Users have the flexibility to formulate the requests using classic text strings (JSON or XML), HTTP headers, as well as three types of authentication: anonymous, basic, or Windows default. All the received response data benefits from syntax highlighting in the main visualizer, and the JSON data can be visualized using tabular features, for easier export to Excel-compatible formats.

Aside from the actual request creator tool and response visualizer, the application also sports a dedicated URL history, which records all the performed queries.
