Ring2D

Regardless of the field of application, when working with materials that need to be altered in any way, minimizing surface or volume loss is ideal in almost all scenarios. Particular techniques have been developed, especially prevalent when dealing with cut-outs that are involved in industrial processes, such as when punching or cutting metal sheet shapes for example. The corresponding process that precedes such tasks is called nesting, and it refers to the arrangement of the required shapes on a given piece of material.

Ring2D aims to address such tasks, by offering users a specialized tool that will cater to the requirements of those who need to generate nesting and packing designs. The software is offered as a CMD-based deployment, and users will be able to parametrize the entire process by relying on a given set of pre-defined commands.

The available packing processes address both disks and rings, as well as rectangular or circular material sheets. If required, the packing process can be performed as a shape in another shape (ring-in-ring).

Aside from the main design features of the application, using its capabilities, one can also address optimizations, namely to find the smallest sheet radius, or, the smallest width (in case of dealing with rectangular sheets) for a given set of shapes.
