RSlideShow is a slideshow creator that lets you easily generate and save interactive presentations with images, videos and audio tracks. It offers support for JPG, AVI and MP3 format.
Make sure to run it with administrative privileges to avoid startup errors. The tool gets launched in full screen mode and it's not possible to decrease the window size without exiting the application.
It's accompanied by the default background music attached to the slideshow but this can be disabled or modified from the settings panel. Preset images are loaded by default to give you an idea of how RSlideShow works, and they can be removed.
Photos and videos can be added from file by first creating a playlist, which can be saved and later imported. It's also possible to indicate directories whose supported file contents you want to turn into a slideshow. The items can be re-arranged in any order in the playlist, or sorted in alphabetical order.
As far as slideshow settings are concerned, you can select a transition style for all slides, set the delay time for each slide, optionally create a picture thumbnail, customize the text color for each file name displayed in each slide, keep music disabled, or select a music directory and enable shuffle mode.
Unfortunately, the utility doesn't give you the possibility to indicate a single audio track to play during the slideshow. In order to generate the slideshow, all you have to do is specify the output directory. Worth noting is that you can preview the slideshow before creating it, in order to make any necessary adjustments.
When saving a slideshow, RSlideShow recreates all program files and adds an autorun configuration file. This means that you can end up creating a large directory for a small slideshow. It doesn't implement an option for generating a video file or a self-extracting executable instead, which would've represented a more optimized solution.
It takes a while to load everything at startup, and the fullscreen mode makes the application rather inconvenient to work with. Several errors popped up in our tests when attempting to create slideshow files, but we must also keep in mind that RSlideShow hasn't been updated for a very long time. Although it's very easy to work with and has some practical options, overall it's not an optimized software solution for generating and saving slideshows.
