Ripping content off the Internet still remains a very sought-after capability in software these days, and despite the abundance of media streaming platforms, there still might be scenarios where offline use could mandate such requirements.
Save Video doesn’t really need any explanation as to what it will do for you, but in a nutshell, it will allow you to easily grab videos from a range of platforms, such as YouTube or Vimeo, convert it to other formats, or extract the corresponding audio tracks.
Adding the preferred video URLs to the download queue is a simple enough process, but I was surprised that the app lacks automated clipboard detection, which is a staple by today’s standards as far as IDMs go. This means that you will have to go the extra mile and manually input the URL.
And yes, that’s URL, single, as the app lacks batch processing capabilities, which is another surprising aspect. Not the biggest caveat, but certainly a feature that might need to be addressed in future iterations of the app.
Going past the shortcomings mentioned in the first section, I was happy to see that multiple output formats are available for the video conversion process, and one can also select the preferred quality along the way. Pretty standard stuff, but good nonetheless.
If the audio content is your cup of tea, the app also allows you to easily extract the corresponding audio tracks easily, and also migrate these to a format of your preference.
While lacking batch processing and automated URL input, Save Video does offer decent and reliable performance when it comes to downloading both audio and video content from multiple media platforms.
