SciPlore MindMapping is a cool tool that combines mind mapping with reference management. If you're using tools like Mind Manager, FreeMind, JabRef, Endnote, or Zotero, you might want to check this out! It’s perfect for anyone who does research and needs to keep their ideas organized.
This software, which used to be called FreeMind Scholar, is built on the popular FreeMind platform but adds special features just for researchers. In its latest version, SciPlore MindMapping not only brings everything you love about FreeMind but also packs in two awesome new functions!
One of the standout features is the ability to assign BibTeX keys to your mind map entries. This means you can easily structure your thoughts and findings from academic articles right in your mind map while directly linking them back to their sources.
Guess what? You can even automate this process! If you connect an entry in your mind map with a PDF file and also link that PDF in your reference management tool (like JabRef), SciPlore will automatically grab the BibTeX key from there and attach it to your mind map entry. How neat is that?
SciPlore MindMapping lets you drag and drop PDF bookmarks into your mind map. Unlike standard FreeMind, which only allows full PDFs to be dropped in, this feature really helps streamline your workflow.
This handy software runs on different systems including Mac OS X, Windows (95 all the way up through Vista), and Linux since it’s developed in Java. So no matter what setup you have at home or work, you can use it!
