Solving Mahjong puzzles is a great way to pass the time and there are many computer games out there that allow you to relax while exercising your mind.

Shanghai Mahjong for macOS is one of those Mahjong puzzle games that also include many customization options in an effort to keep you both challenged  and entertained.

Finding your way around the game user interface is extremely easy: the main area of the game window (which is resizable) displays the board where you must find the matching tile, while the left side panel shows your statistics (score, elapsed time and number of remaining tiles).

Whenever you cannot find two identical tiles, simply press the “Find a Pair” button placed on the bottom right corner of the main window and Shanghai Mahjong will highlight a set. The same area also hosts an “Undo Move” button.

The game appearance can be easily customized through the Shanghai Mahjong menus. The Background and the Tileset menu provide access to the MobileAge wallpaper collection and to more than 50 tile sets designs.

Note that each of them also retains a list of recently used patterns and that you can also use your own image collection to replace the gameboard wallpaper.

What’s more, via the Shanghai Mahjong Layout menu you can select one of the 200 built-in layout models. A separate window allows you to browse the collection and preview all the templates through small thumbnails but also sorts the layouts by status: finished and unfinished.

To add to the challenge, Shanghai Mahjong comes with a Windstorm mode that will bring new twists to the classical gameplay.

All things considered, Shanghai Mahjong is a nice puzzle game that allows you to have fun and relax while improving your attention to details.
