Shredo is a handy little tool that helps you securely delete files from your Mac. Now, just marking files for deletion doesn’t mean they’re gone for good. The data actually stays on your drive until the operating system decides to overwrite it with new info. So, if you accidentally delete something, there are many recovery tools out there that can help you get it back.
This is where Shredo comes in! It makes the recovery process much tougher or even impossible. It offers three shredding options:
Shredo also includes a Privacy Scan tool that checks for browser history and cookies. It works with popular browsers like Safari, Google Chrome, and Firefox, letting you delete records that might endanger your privacy.
The interface of Shredo is super simple. You can arrange it either vertically or horizontally based on what you like best. Plus, it has drag-and-drop support! You can also load files through the Finder menu if that's easier for you.
You can load different files into each of Shredo's three presets and then just press one button to shred everything at once! The app takes care of it all without needing more input from you.
While Shredo doesn’t have tons of customization options, its Settings panel shows how much space you've cleared and how many files you've shredded. And guess what? These stats stay saved even after you close the app!
If you're looking to securely delete content from your Mac easily, Shredo makes it super straightforward. Just drag and drop your files onto the right preset and let Shredo handle the rest!
To make things even better, Shredo adds an item in your Services contextual menu. You can also set up a hotkey to send files straight to the app quickly!
