Description
SignTool UI
SignTool UI is a handy little application made just for software developers. It lets you easily sign files using AuthentiCode certificates or assemblies. Plus, it even includes timestamps from providers like VeriSign, StartCom, GlobalSign, Comodo, and Starfield Tech.
Easy Installation
This utility comes as a small .exe file that you can save anywhere on your computer. Just double-click it to get started! You can also keep it on a USB flash drive so you can use it on any computer without any fuss.
Requirements for Use
Before you dive in, there’s something important to note: you need SignTool.exe from the Windows SDK. SignTool UI is just a graphical interface for this tool. Oh! And make sure you have the .NET Framework installed on your PC—otherwise, things might not run smoothly.
User-Friendly Interface
The main window looks pretty standard since it follows the .NET Framework style. But don't worry; its simple design shows off everything you need without any distractions!
Selecting Your Certificate
To kick things off, browse through the Microsoft certificate store to pick the certificate you'll use for signing your assembly. Remember that these certificates need to meet SignTool's guidelines to be valid. The app even shows the website address where the certificate was issued and its thumbprint—think of it as a serial number.
Signing Your Assembly
Once you've selected your certificate, all that's left is to choose the assembly you want to sign and pick a timestamp provider. Then hit the Sign button and let the program do its magic! You’ll see details about your assembly's file name and size right there.
A Small Limitation
A downside? It would be awesome if SignTool UI could sign multiple assemblies at once! But even though it doesn't have tons of features or a flashy interface, it's still super easy to use. This app gives you an intuitive way to sign assemblies with Microsoft-approved certificates.
