SimplePingTool pretty much says it all. It's a basic program designed to check if a certain IP address is assigned and that the machine to which it was allocated is indeed functional and can work on the internet, sending and receiving data. Packet Internet or Inter-Network Groper is important in internet diagnostics. The term ping was borrowed from submarine language, where it is used to define a returned sonar pulse.
The developer makes quite a point out of the fact that the program itself is nothing new. It's not special in any way, technically speaking. Still, using the app one must get the sense that something is different, and that is most likely because of the modern interface. It integrates perfectly with new OS menus, and it also includes many visual perks. You can see the success rate and average milliseconds displayed in two colorful graphs. A grid on the lower half of the page also tries to combine the two elements into one compact picture.
Since the application shows so much info regarding the user's internet connection or the IP address that's added, the program can be used in the IT doctor's emergency kit. The option to enable logging to file is also available. The user can change intervals using the provided slider. The program, aside from its looks, doesn't stand out when compared with its competition. This doesn't mean it's not relevant, only that if you're not interested in matching everything with your OS' modern interface, there's nothing much to attract you.
The bottom line with SimplePingTool is that it tries to change the tool stereotype by adding beauty to function. It's not exaggerated in looks, and functionality is indeed reliable, so you get a complete package without any disadvantages included.
