Smart File Organiser enables you to locate files in order to copy or move them to other locations. This is an easy-to-use application that caters to all types of users who want to organize their files. For example, it can be used to track down and remove duplicates.

The installation procedure doesn't take long and the only notable aspect about it is that you need .NET Framework installed. Administrative privileges should be enabled when launching the tool.

It's packed in a user-friendly interface that doesn't put emphasis on looks. It consists of a large window which shows all options provided by Smart File Organiser.

After specifying the target directory, you can enter the name of the file you want to find (by pattern), as well as create a list with predefined filters to take into account. For example, you can instruct the utility to look for all files with a specific extension, or all files which share a name and have different formats.

In the results list you can find out the name, extension and length of each file, along with its full path, date of creation, last modification and access (local and UTC), as well as attributes (e.g. archive, read only). The files can be copied or moved to any folder you indicate.

File search, copy and move tasks were carried out rapidly in our tests, during which Smart File Organiser remained light on system resources consumption. It didn't trigger the operating system to hang, crash or prompt error dialogs.

On the other hand, it's a bit tricky to figure out how it works. If there are no filters created, Smart File Organiser can only identify files if you write their full name and extension (partial matches are not supported). On top of that, when creating filters for all files with a specific format, it's necessary to enter the asterisk symbol too (e.g. *.mp3), but the app doesn't tell you this.

To sum it up, Smart File Organiser hasn't been updated for a long time and it remained in beta development stage. It has a rudimentary interface, no guidelines for its options, and a pretty light set of features.
