Snk is a very small yet entertaining game that emulates the classic snake gameplay: you get to direct the game character toward food, and each time you collect a new pixel your “snake” will become longer.

To preserve the classic snake feel, Snk also comes with retro-styled music and audio effects (you can disable them if you wish).

The game comes with a twist over the traditional snake gameplay: to make things more interesting the world will start turning, and your perspective will change. Of course, you must keep your orientation to be able to point the snake in the correct direction.

The Snk user interface is represented by a relatively small window where you will have to control the snake. The window cannot be resized at all, so the maneuver space is quite small. As a result, at the highest speed the game is almost impossible to play.

Of course, the point of the game is to collect as many pixels as you can without hitting the walls or your own body. In the top right corner of the main window, you will be able to see your current score, which is determined by the speed with which you manage to collect new items.

The snake can be controlled with the arrow or WASD keys, you can pause the game by pressing the P key, and you must press the space bar on game over. Within the Snk main window, you can select the snake speed by pressing the 1, 2, or 3 keys, and you can see your current high score in each case.

Bottom line, Snk allows you to play on your Mac’s desktop a very simple yet addictive game that has amused more than one generation. The game’s user interface is quite small, which is in tone with the original playing medium, but might prove too challenging on higher speeds.
