Description

snwe

snwe is a cool, open-source tool that serves as a lightweight replacement for the macOS menu bar. It acts like an app launcher, system monitoring tool, and even a music player interface! How neat is that?

What Does snwe Do?

While snwe isn't designed to completely replace everything the macOS menu bar does, it aims to give you plenty of tools to substitute it without leaving anything out. It's pretty handy!

Current Development Stage

Now, just a heads up—snwe is still in its early days. The first release candidate (version 0.1.0) came out just a couple of months ago, which means there might be some bugs floating around and a bunch of features are still on their way.

Customization Options

The great thing about snwe is that it's open source and has a modular design. This makes it super easy for you to create your own widgets, themes, and indicators if you're feeling creative!

User-Friendly Interface

Once you launch snwe, you'll see it pop up at the top of your Mac's screen with various widgets you can toggle on or off through its Settings window. Just click the little cogwheel button at the end of the bar and head over to the Widgets tab.

Theming Your Experience

You can also change how snwe looks! It comes with four default themes and two color schemes to choose from.

Multi-Monitor Support Issues

Unfortunately, right now snwe doesn't support multi-monitor setups very well. If you try moving it to another monitor, it seems to snap back to your primary display every time.

A Few Glitches Here and There

You might run into some quirks when using the Settings tabs. Sometimes stuff from an old tab can show up in your active tab, which can be annoying.

Music Player Widget Woes

We also had some trouble getting the music player widget to work properly—even after trying both iTunes and Spotify while restarting the app each time!

Your Wish List for Features

A nice addition would be having quick access buttons for things like Time/Date, WiFi, Volume, and Battery preferences right from those widgets.

The Big Picture

All in all, while snwe feels like a fresh option for users tired of Apple's menu bar combo on Macs, it's got quite a road ahead before it can really replace them effectively.
