The Sonoris Parallel Equalizer (SPEQ) plug-in is perfect for mixing and mastering your audio tracks. If you're into music production, this tool can really help enhance your sound!
SPEQ features fixed filter types on each band, and bands 2 through 6 are set up to work in parallel. This means they can boost or cut frequencies just like classic analog graphic equalizers do! Bands 3 to 5 use constant-Q bells, while bands 2 and 6 act as shelves. Plus, bands 1 and 7 are low/high cuts that connect in series with the others.
The cool thing about this EQ is its subtlety. It requires a bit more effort to dial in the perfect settings because there's some interaction between the bands. Unlike traditional series-connected EQs where the gains simply add up, here it's a different ball game!
The filters work parallel to each other along with the unprocessed signal. So, if you boost a low shelf and then add a low-frequency bell boost, it doesn't create an overwhelming effect. This makes it hard to overdo things; instead, you'll need to put in some extra work to find just the right balance.
This setup keeps your signal path cleaner since all filters operate on the same input. Plus, they maintain correct gain up to Nyquist frequency!
Another great feature of SPEQ is its large graphical display that shows you exactly what's happening with your sound. You can even resize the plugin by dragging its lower right corner—super handy!
