Space and all the mysteries that it holds have always made us want to reach for the stars and go beyond them. Space Fantasies Free Screensaver, as its name implies, is a software app that will satisfy most of your space traveling fantasies.

As soon as you install the screensaver and run it for the first time, you will be captivated by the beauty of the photos. It doesn't matter that most of them are probably digital art as the purpose of the app is to deliver a space fantasy, not space photorealism.  The time you can spend watching these pictures can be adjusted from the OS' built-in screensaver manager.  For example, you can modify the image keep and transition duration, and switch the clock's format between 12h and 24h formats.  For those wondering how well does your system handle the screensaver, it can also display an FPS counter for you.

Just like the celestial objects it represents, the app is also starting to show its age. The images are a bit pixelated when viewed on a 1920x1080 monitor, and the app overall doesn't seem to be optimized for wide-screen monitors, since both images and clock seem to be stretched when being run on them. This does not make the app obsolete for monitors of higher resolution; it just won't deliver as much of an impact anymore. Fortunately, this means that those of you still using older monitors will be able to enjoy this app to its fullest.

Considering how beautiful the pictures are, but also how low the image quality is, makes Space Fantasies Free Screensaver a good desktop enhancement tool to have, as long as you are using an older monitor.
