So, let's talk about Speedtest. At first, I wasn't super pumped about trying out a new Internet speed test app. I mean, who really gets excited about that? But then I stumbled upon LibreSpeed, and things got interesting! It's this open-source, lightweight speed test tool made with JavaScript. Pretty cool, right?
Basically, it's a speed test application designed for Linux. What you get here is a nice GUI that works as a client for LibreSpeed. It's built using GTK4+/Libadwaita, making it look sleek and easy to use.
This app helps you measure your upload and download speeds, plus it gives you info on your connection's ping and jitter values. So if you've ever wondered how fast your Internet really is, this tool has got your back!
The main selling point of LibreSpeed is that it's self-hosted and open-source. This means anyone can jump in and use it for their own projects or apps—whether they're working on desktop or mobile applications.
Setting it up isn't rocket science either! It supports PHP, Node.js, and multiple servers among other features. And since it's so lightweight (no Flash or Java nonsense), it runs pretty smoothly.
If you're curious about compatibility, good news! LibreSpeed works with almost all modern browsers like Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari—even Internet Explorer 11!
All in all, Speedtest is a fantastic example of what makes a good GUI app. Despite its simplicity, it looks gorgeous and functions well—definitely one of the best apps for Linux out there!
