The availability of the Internet is exponentially growing, no doubt, but you still need a web browser to access it. Sure enough you already have a favorite one by now, but chances are you don’t use, or know what half of the features do. For a clean, straightforward experience, SquireBrowser might just be what you need.

First of all, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your computer, because it won’t run without it. Apart from that, the application itself can be used even from a USB flash drive on other computers, without worrying about the health status of the target PC, because registries are not modified.

The application is rather rough in terms of visuals. On the one hand, you need to get used to a limited space to view content, because the main window can’t be resized. Moreover, elements like buttons and panels don’t really seem to blend together, although the color creates a contrast which puts emphasis on content.

Needless to say that in order to access a web page, you need to write down the URL in the dedicated field, but you need to use the mouse to hit the Go button, because using the Enter button has no effect. If you want to quickly look up something online, you need to first navigate to a search engine, because there’s no dedicated field for this.

You can visit multiple pages, and access them in different tabs, without putting too much pressure on system resources. There’s also a home button, but with no option to configure its default, blank location, its purpose is rather questionable. There’s no favorites manager, or at least a history tracker to have access to recent pages.

You don’t really need all the features a modern web browser is fitted with, at least not for daily status updates on Facebook. SquireBrowser tries to put emphasis on speed in order to provide a straightforward, comfortable browsing experience. However, it still feels like in early stages of development, and is underprepared to offer what it promises.
