SRecord is a super handy collection of tools for working with EPROM load files. It can handle various file formats like Motorola S-Record, Intel hex, Tektronix hex, and even binary files. Whether you need to read or write these formats, SRecord has got you covered!

File Formats Supported by SRecord

SRecord is pretty versatile when it comes to file formats. Here’s a breakdown of what it can do:

• Ascii-Hex: This format works for both reading and writing (also called the Ascii-Space-Hex format).


• ASM: You can output DB statements containing data, which is great for embedding in assembler programs.


• Atmel Generic: Produced by the Atmel AVR assembler, this format is also good for reading and writing.


• BASIC: Similar to ASM but outputs DATA statements for BASIC programs.


• Binary: Straightforward; you can read and write binary files without hassle.


• C Array: Outputs a C array definition that can be handy for other programs.


• COSMAC: The RCA Cosmac Elf format? No problem! It’s understood here too.


• DEC Binary: This XXDP format works well for both reading and writing.


• Elektor Monitor (EMON52): Works for both input and output.


• Fairchild Fairbug: Another one that’s supported in both directions!


• LSI Logic Fast Load: Yep, it reads and writes this one too.


• Formatted Binary:This XXDP format is also covered!


• Intel Formats:You’ll find support here whether it's Intel hex or Intel Absolute Object Module Format (AOMF). Both are good to go!
