The game is free to play, but you must register for a Star Trek Online account: you need to login with your credentials and each time you open the game from a new device, you must provide a confirmation code that will be sent to your email address.

While exploring the Star Trek Online locations you must find your way through iconic Star Trek locations, establish new contacts, create new alliances and much more. At the same time, all the adventures are new even though they follow the traditional Star Trek recipe.

Noteworthy is that Star Trek Online allows you to fight your enemies both in ground and space combat, since you end up as the captain of your ship. The weapons collection includes the classical phasers and the ships missile, and you get to maneuver your ship in 3D space.

Star Trek Online provides a plethora of customization options and you can even build and personalize your own ship. At the same time, the game offers you the possibility to create your own species and tell a new story.

However, keep in mind that the Star Trek Online client is still in Beta stage: it will take some time for the launcher to load and connect to the server, you might encounter issues connecting again if you restart the game an so on. Once you start playing though, the controls are quite responsive and the graphic quality is acceptable.
