sub2srt is a super easy tool that helps you convert two popular subtitle formats—microdvd and subrip, both known as ".sub"—into the subviewer ".srt" format. This format is what ogmmerge uses for multiplexing into ogm streams, making it pretty handy!
Requirements:
To run this tool, you'll need Perl. But don't worry! You won't need to install anything fancy since it's just a single perl script.
You might want to move sub2srt to a directory that's in your $PATH, like /usr/local/bin or /usr/bin, so it's easier to access.
If you're using Gentoo, good news! You can find my ebuild in portage.
If you need more info on how to use it, just run sub2srt --help
.
This tool currently supports adding more input formats like Timeshift, Checks, and Regex-Replace. But keep in mind that it will not convert DVD subtitles or vobsub formats. So if that's what you're looking for, you might want to check out other options!
