Subnet Mask Tool is a simple-to-use application that facilitates a simple working environment for calculating IPv4 subnet masks based on the ratio between network and host bits. It features straightforward options that can be quickly figured out by users with some minimal experience in such programs.

Installing it is just a matter of downloading the app's files and running the setup, since there are no special options involved. However, the product was made using .NET Framework, so you should make sure to set up this software framework unless you already have it.

When it comes to the interface, Subnet Mask Tool opts for a standard panel with a conventional structure, where you can move a slider with the mouse pointer to set the proportions between the network and host bits (ranging from 0 to 32 units).

Modifications are instantly reflected in data and a pie chart that shows the distribution of these two types of bits, so you don't have to click any buttons and readjust settings if the app doesn't deliver the expected results.

You can check out the network and host bits on the upper part of the window, together with the resulted subnet mask on the bottom. Unfortunately, there are no options integrated for printing all information, exporting it to file, or copying it to the Clipboard. At most, you can select individual fields and copy contents using the Ctrl+C combination or by opening the right-click menu.

Unsurprisingly from such as lightweight application, it had minimal impact on the computer's performance in our tests, using low CPU and RAM. It was stable throughout its runtime. On the other hand, Subnet Mask Tool doesn't have a more comprehensive set of options and configuration settings for expert users.
