Even though online multiplayer games have become the norm, there is nothing quite like squaring off against your opponent while sharing the same keyboard. If, however, you feel that these types of arcade games lack originality, you may be interested in Super Time Surf.

It has you and your friend controlling a pair of two-headed hoverboard-riding pink flamingos that shoot powerful lasers capable of blowing up other mutant birds into a million pieces. The game features a retro visual style that gives off an 80’s vibe and reminds you of an old VHS tape being played on an ancient TV set.

It cannot be denied that Super Time Surf presents an original concept, but a surprisingly fun one as well. In essence, each player’s goal is to blast his opponent out of the sky by firing their hoverboard-mounted laser canons as accurately as possible.

You can move your character using the W, A, S, D and arrow keys respectively and fire your weapons with the Z and N keys.

In addition to their already supernatural abilities, the flamingos seem to be able to bend the very fabric of time and space. You can reverse the direction of your laser shots after they are fired with the X and M keys, giving your opponent a nasty surprise even after they thought they had dodged your projectiles.

Each flamingo has a health bar that can be viewed in the top left and top right sections of the screen. An additional indicator displays how much you have used your time-bending abilities thus far.

It is important to note that even supernatural flamingos cannot use their powers indefinitely, but they are accessible again after a short period of rest.

To conclude, Super Time Surf is a fun, original game that can be a great way to test your skills against your friends. It is not terribly complex, and its simple gameplay will probably not keep you interested for a long time, but surely you cannot get tired of mutant hoverboard-riding flamingos too quickly.
