Superbar is a pretty cool app that lets you spice up your menu bar. While it’s super handy to have different applications there, you can’t just toss in anything like bookmarks or snippets. But with Superbar, those limits start to fade away! You get way more freedom when it comes to organizing your menu bar.
Now, I won’t lie—this app isn’t exactly made for beginners. It can be a bit tricky at first if you’re not familiar with how it works, but once you get the hang of it, you'll love what it does! Superbar adds a neat little icon to your menu bar. When you click on it, a drop-down menu appears. All your items are sorted into categories, and opening them is as easy as a single click.
One of the best things about Superbar is its customizable item categories. Plus, there's a nifty shortcut that lets you toggle macOS Dark Mode on and off—super handy if you're into that!
The app comes with some example menu items already in place, but you'll probably want to switch things up. To do this, just hit Edit to access the YML file where all these commands live. After making changes, simply reload the file.
You’ll need to add new bookmarks, snippets, and shortcuts manually. This might be why Superbar isn’t the best fit for someone who’s just starting out with these types of apps.
There’s a reason why many developers choose to put their apps in the menu bar—it makes everything easier to reach without taking up too much screen space! If you're looking to add personalized shortcuts for other apps or commands easily accessible from your menu bar, then Superbar is definitely worth considering. It's highly customizable and perfect for those who know their way around tech.
